When we study consciousness and afterlife evidence, we learn some interesting related things. Our experiences of what seems to be a material world collapse into what our minds experience when we observe them. That has led to the understanding that since reality isn’t created until we observe it, all of history is being created at the same time to fit what we observe. That history could extend to humankind’s existence on earth. Some scientists are now entertaining the possibility that the history of the Earth and humankind’s evolution are stories that have been created because we need a history to explain why we have a present as a species.
One such supposition being seriously explored by researchers is that humanity was originally created about 300,000 Earth-years ago. And then the universe, complete with its fossils and so on, all may have been added as we became more curious. When scientists looked for a history, it came into being. Scientists believe the universe is 13.7 billion years old.
Humankind has an evolutionary history that is five million years long. But maybe the scientists who are studying the nature of reality and how humankind seems to be creating it are right. The whole backstory of Earth’s and humankind’s history could have been created after the fact. We would be none the wiser. If that had happened, though, we might expect to find some little “tells” and glitches. And, guess what? Those tells are everywhere! For example the one’s mentioned below
The Genesis Moment: Exploring Reality Through Sudden Species Appearance
Ninety percent of all the animal species now on earth appeared at about the same time that the first humans did, about 300,000 years ago. Scientists find this fact to be both depressing and confounding.
Punctuated Equilibrium: Rethinking Evolution and Reality
Darwin’s nineteenth-century theory of many minute changes that constitute evolution looks silly now. That is not the way that evolution happens. Instead, once a species appears, it goes through long periods of stasis before a related species appears, which then goes through another long period of little or no change. This “punctuated equilibrium” is what you would expect to see if a creative agent were inventing all these modified creatures and then sticking them into place in series.
Unexplained Animal Strains: Implications for What is Reality?
There are some strains of animals – like rhinoceroses – which simply appear in the fossil record, without discernible ancestors to connect them back to a first ancestral creature. And when we put that fact together with punctuated equilibrium and the fact that nearly all the modern species of animals appeared at the same time that anatomically modern people did, we cannot help but wonder. Are we seeing a body of evidence of a hurried kind of “good enough” wish to fudge things on the part of a creative agent?
The Big Bang Dilemma
Scientists tell us that the universe began in a Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago. But something cannot really have come from nothing, or that is the biggest “tell” of all! So the “Big Bang” doesn’t really explain anything, does it? You can then ask, “What was before that?” an infinite number of times, no matter how long ago or how recently scientists want to tell us that the creation of the universe happened. And the plain fact is that since matter is almost entirely empty space, this universe is as insubstantial as a thought, in any event.
Creation of Stars
The fifty-year-old moment that first made us realize that this whole reality might have been created in an ad hoc manner was in a popular science magazine so old that we have no link to cite. An astronomer reported having pointed his telescope at an area of the sky that was then devoid of stars. He left the telescope in place, and one year later to the day he looked through it again, and now that same place in the universe teemed with billions of galaxies. He reported to readers that this was then a well-known phenomenon. And so many people were testing it that astronomers back then expected that soon there would be no place left in the visible cosmos that was not well populated by galaxies.
Empty Space and Universe’s Origins
The reality that we live in is scientifically proven to be 99.99999% empty space, in any event. And there are a lot of little tells which suggest that this universe actually may have been thrown together to become our habitat just a mere few hundred thousand years ago. It does give you something to think about.
