In the earlier half of the twentieth century, A. T. Baird undertook the editorial task of compiling One Hundred Cases for Survival After Death. After he had written the book, he commented, “A thousand equally good cases could be produced as easily; in fact, at times I was embarrassed with the wealth of material at my disposal. … Perhaps later, someone more energetic and enthusiastic, with more time and patience than I have, may publish Five Thousand Cases for Survival, and even then there will be plenty in reserve.”
Since then, with the evolution of the internet and the efforts of organizations like the Society for Psychical Research, an increasing number of cases continue to emerge from all corners of the globe.
This collection encompasses a variety of subjects, encompassing but not confined to trance phenomena, visions on deathbeds, occurrences in haunted houses, book-tests, direct voice phenomena, dreams, and materialization. While certain cases may be familiar to researchers, others might be less recognized. Yet, the predominant thread weaving through the majority is the presence of compelling evidence suggesting that we transcend our physical forms and that death, rather than marking an end, could potentially serve as the threshold to an extraordinary journey.
