Why Your Body Dies but You Live On

People don’t understand that we are eternal human beings having a physical experience. That ignorance about who we are is resulting in unnecessary, distressing, discord, and violence. I’m going to refer to the mind in this explanation, meaning who we are as individuals. In this video, I explain what our minds are and who we are in eternity. It is an uplifting message that will make you happy.

To begin with, nothing in the physical realm is spiritual. The physical realm is just scenery for the play.

We are the actors in the play. The scenery has been created for us to use so we experience the drama that will enable us to grow in earth school. The body and the physical world are just inconsequential scenery that will eventually be torn down and discarded to make way for another play.

When people focus on the physical realm rather than the other individual minds struggling with them in the play, they are being materialists, meaning they’re focused on the material world, the scenery. They are materialists regardless of their religion or status given to them in a religion. Anyone who values the physical world’s scenery over the minds of the individuals in earth school is a materialist.

Killing is a physical realm activity that changes the physical realm’s scenery. It can be abhorrent to us. It can result in unspeakable tragedy, causing inconsolable grief.

But killing doesn’t have the meaning in the spiritual realm that it does for people in the physical realm. We, as eternal spirits, cannot be harmed or killed. As Swami Vivekananda said, “Nothing can harm the spirit. The sword cannot pierce it. Fire cannot burn it. Water cannot melt it. Air cannot dry it.”

We are that spirit that cannot be harmed. Killing in itself has no effect upon us as spiritual beings, even though it can be terrible as we experience it on the earth plane.

We continue to live regardless of what happens to the body. The reason for the transition that we call death is that we must stop using the body in the physical realm when we’re ready to go to the next period of our eternal development. Everyone must transition from earth school to graduate to the next period of eternal life.

To do so, we have to stop using the physical body. So we have what we call a passing, or crossing over, or death. It’s just a life event like being born or growing into puberty.

But why this kind of ending? Why not have the body just disappear when earth school is over? The reason is that on the earth plane, everything that happens must have a reason. It’s part of the play. Light and warmth come from a sun.

The body originates from conception and grows in a woman’s womb. The heart pumps blood to sustain the body. The body is sustained by eating and drinking.

On the next plane of life, there is no sun. The environment is always lighted and warm. There’s no need for bodily organs.

There’s no need to have a body formed in a womb. And there’s no need to eat to sustain the body. But on the earth plane, we have to have a reason for everything.

So when the person goes on to the next stage of eternal life, the body has to stop functioning and be left behind. That ending becomes the reason the mind of the person is no longer operating on the earth plane.

This is the central message for you to understand. You will see people dying around you, so you might fear your own death. But there is nothing to fear. You will live on eternally with the people and pets you love after you leave your body behind.
