There is much widespread ignorance and ungrounded superstition about the afterlife. And people who hold these mistaken views are adamant that they are true, with no basis in fact. Do people have bodies or are they just orbs of light? Do people eat and drink? If so, can they have a good steak dinner made from a cow’s meat? How do people get around in the afterlife? Are there cars? Can people have sex? In this video, Dr. R. Craig Hogan explains what we have been told by speakers from the afterlife that are corroborated by more than one speaker. We know what life in the afterlife is like.
In the note at the end of this article are links to the evidence I describe in this video. Go as deeply as you want to into the evidence. You will come away realizing the truth about this life and the next.
Misconception 1: The mind is produced by the brain, so when the brain dies, the mind dies.
The first misconception is held by materialists who believe the mind is produced by the brain, and when the brain dies, the mind dies.
That is patently untrue. Today we have many thousands of reports from people living in the afterlife who have left their bodies and brains behind. Some are recorded. Others are firsthand reports by reliable individuals on this side of life, often reports of communications coming to groups of people, all of whom testify that the reports are valid. We have spouses in the afterlife speaking to their spouse still on Earth. Children talking to their parents in the afterlife. Parents talking to their children.
We also have a great number of phenomena in which the mind functions without using the brain. People remote view objects and scenes thousands of miles away by closing their eyes and focusing on them. The validity of these experiences is well documented in peer-reviewed journals. People in near death experiences, when their bodies have shut down, have clearer than normal senses, experiences outside of the body, meetings with deceased loved ones, and all manner of experiences showing their minds are working when the brain is not functioning. Our minds are not in our brains and are not dependent on them.
So it is an archaic belief that the mind is in the brain.
Misconception 2: People who have left Earth are orbs or wisps of spirit energy.
The second misconception is that people who have left the Earth body behind are now orbs or wisps of spirit energy.
There is nothing in the record of people speaking from the afterlife that is corroborated among sources suggesting that people are orbs of energy. In fact, we have detailed accounts from many hundreds of sources that people in the next life have bodies that are as substantial as the bodies we have on Earth. People have bodies as they had in their 20s or 30s on Earth, with no defects. Children, including miscarried or aborted children, grow up in the next life until they reach the physical maturity of a person in their 20s or 30s on Earth. They enjoy all the sensual pleasures we enjoy on Earth. They have fully functioning senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, bodily sensations, and all the rest of what we experience on Earth.
Misconception 3: There is a hell of eternal damnation and punishment.
The third misconception is that there is a place of torment bad people go to. There is no such place as a hell. That is a mythology developed by the early Christian church. There is no mention of hell in Acts of the Apostles, Mark, the earliest gospel, Paul’s epistles, or the other early writings in the Christian canon. Yeshua or Jesus mentions a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem called Gehenna or the Valley of Hinnom. He refers to it when he says the body is meaningless and will eventually be in the garbage dump. Gehenna was mistranslated by Early Christian translators as hell. That has been changed in later translations. There has never been such place as a hell of torment.
Misconception 4: People from the afterlife go on to other realms and have no contact with people on Earth.
The next myth is that people from the afterlife go on and don’t have contact with loved ones on Earth.
All the sources from the afterlife tell us our loved ones receive our thoughts and feelings from wherever they are. They are intertwined with us. And when we need them, they come into the Earth plane to be with us. They do not go on to their new lives and leave us behind. They are still only a thought away, as though they have stepped into the next room and are speaking to us from there. They are very anxious to keep in contact with us, even though they are unseen. It’s up to us to slow down in our daily lives and talk to them.
Misconception 5: It is a sin to communicate with people in the life after this life.
The next myth is that it’s a sin to communicate with loved ones in the afterlife. There is nothing in the Christian canon suggesting people should not communicate with their loved ones in the afterlife. There are passages in the Hebrew scriptures about not talking to mediums, but that was only because people were going to mediums instead of going to Yahweh, the Hebrew God. They were asking advice and venerating the spirits the mediums were connected with. Yahweh was a jealous god who allowed no other gods in the lives of his chosen people. Here’s an example: “”So Saul died for his sin against the Lord, because he did not keep the Word of the Lord. He had asked a woman who spoke with spirits what he should do. He did not ask the Lord. So the Lord killed him, and gave the nation to David the son of Jesse.” Saul was asking a medium for advice instead of Yahweh. That’s what the passages refer to. More importantly, nowhere in either the Hebrew or Christian sacred texts does it say in any form that people should not communicate with their loved ones living in the afterlife. In fact, Yeshua, or Jesus, himself communicated with Elija, Moses, and Jairus’ daughter who was dead. He said to the thief on the cross that the thief would be with him that day in paradise. It is a misreading of the Judeo-Christian sacred texts to suggest it is a sin to communicate with people in the afterlife.
Misconception 6: Demons disguise themselves as our loved ones and communicate with us when we try to communicate with our loved ones.
You may also have heard that demons can disguise themselves as our loved ones and mislead us when we communicate with what we believe is our loved ones.
That is absolutely false. There is no source in the Jewish or Christian canons suggesting a demon follows people around and pretends to be the loved one to communicate. There are beings in Islam called Hamzaads that do disguise themselves as loved ones. But there is nothing of its parallel in the Jewish or Christian texts.
Misconception 7: Our loved ones who have left the Earth plane have gone on and we should not bother them.
Quite the contrary. We hear repeatedly from people living in the life after this life that their most fervent wish is that they communicate with their loved ones to let them know they’re fine, just in a different place. And they’re available to communicate at any time. All we have to do is speak to them or ask them to come near. Especially in the days following their transition, they want us to know they’re fine and well. They will stay around us when we’re grieving. After a while, they go on to their lives in the next life. But they are only a thought away. They actively come to us when we ask them to or when we’re having a hard time, and they want us to respond. We aren’t bothering them, even if we talk to them every day until the end of our stay on the Earth plane. They are going on with their lives, but are always available to communicate.
Misconception 8: Our grief has no effect on people living in the afterlife.
We do hear from children living in the next life who tell us their parents’ grief is keeping them from advancing to the next life. They feel the desperate need to stay close to their parents because of their grief. They delay going on to the next stages of their life. But they feel it is hopeless because their parents are not slowing down long enough to receive their messages. So they are trapped until their parents grow to have a stable grief that is not constant and debilitating. They want to go on. And they are only a thought away, so they can return when their parents want to communicate.
Our loved ones living full lives in the afterlife receive all our feelings and thoughts. Our grieving makes them feel the grief, and that makes them sad. They don’t want us to grieve. We will feel sad we aren’t with them on the same plane for a while, but being consumed with grief contaminates our lives and makes our loved ones feel sad because of our feelings. It is important for us to realize we’re only on different planes for a short time, and they are available to communicate at any time. They want us to live full, happy lives until the brief time when we are on the same plane together.
Misconception 9: People reincarnate after a while and are not available to communicate.
Reincarnation is misunderstood. People don’t return to Earth to live a new life as a different person. What we’re told repeatedly by the people living in the life after this life is that we stay the individuals we are throughout eternity. Instead, other individuals who are part of our higher self incarnate as new individuals. Their lives might have a framework from our lives. It may be that we didn’t learn a lesson; our higher self still wants to experience. The new individual comes to Earth and grows up into adulthood. As that person grows, the framework from our life influences the person’s development. But we and that new person are both independent, and we maintain our personality throughout time. We never reincarnate.
Misconception 10: People in the life after this life cannot enjoy sensual pleasures such as sex.
Another question we’re asked is whether people can have sex in the next life. The answer we’re given repeatedly is that people can have sex in the life after this life if they want to. It doesn’t create babies. No new babies are born in the next life, although aborted or miscarried fetuses on Earth are born in the next life if their mothers loved the child that would have been born. They grow up there and have wonderful reunions with the mother and other family when they make their transition. As for sexual partners, people must be attracted to each other and willing, just on Earth.
People are also able to eat and drink all the things they enjoyed on Earth and more. They don’t have to eat or drink, but if they want food or drink, it is simply available for them in their environment. No animals or plants are killed in food preparation. All the tastes are available, but the substances do not originate from any living thing.
Misconception 11: The life reviews are a form of punishment for misdeeds on Earth.
We’re also asked whether the life review is a punishment for misdeeds on Earth. We hear of three life reviews. One happens during near-death experiences. People describe having their life fleet before them while they are unconscious. The purpose of that life review is to teach the individual things that will change their outlook on life so they live their lives differently. Because the person is being given insights to help them live their life differently, it is different from the life reviews after the person makes the transition to the next life. There are two life reviews after the person has left the body behind. The first is a quicker life review. It happens soon after the person makes the transition. The second is a more thorough life review that may happen some considerable time after leaving Earth. In it, the person actually becomes each individual who was involved in each interaction with others that might have caused them happiness or pain. The person feels the depth of their emotions as though they were the person. It is not a punishment. It is intended to give the person a perspective that changes their nature. There is no judgment, condemnation, or punishment for deeds done on Earth.
Misconception 12: If we’re not getting communications from people in the next life, it means they’re unhappy with us or they’re out of reach.
The next misconception is that when our loved ones in the next life don’t seem to be communicating with us, it means they’re miffed, or they’ve gone so far away they can’t be reached. Neither is true. Nearly all people who communicate from the afterlife say they are anxious to communicate to their loved ones still on Earth. They want to tell us they’re fine, they love us, and they want to communicate with us. We just have to slow down long enough to receive their messages and learn how to allow their messages to bubble up from our subconscious into our conscious minds. They are communicating. We just aren’t getting the messages.
Misconception 13: Only mediums can communicate with people in the next life.
Anyone can communicate with their loved ones in the next life. It doesn’t require some special medium ability. Mediums are able to communicate with people who are not their loved ones. That is their special ability. But we are able to communicate with our loved ones. We just have to learn the methods that work for us. Seek Reality Online has a free online training program in how to communicate with loved ones. Most people who go through it are successful in communicating with their loved ones. Psychotherapists are also able to help people enter a state of mind in which they communicate with their loved ones in the afterlife.
Misconception 14: People in the afterlife sit around strumming harps and singing praises to god.
People living in the life after this life are living full lives. They live in communities with others, enjoy all the pastimes we enjoy on Earth and many more. They meet in social gatherings and go to concerts and listen to revered speakers such as Yeshua or Jesus, Martin Luther, Confucius, Einstein, and many others. They play games such as baseball and football. Automobile enthusiasts and boaters who want to continue their pastimes of auto racing, driving through the countryside, or boating have the automobiles or boats they want to have. They are propelled by the intention of the driver and do not use fuels that pollute the environment. Other forms of transportation such as motorcycles and planes are also available. Whatever someone is interested in experiencing is simply there for them.
The life after this life is rich and full of adventures.
All of these misconceptions persist even in the face of clear, repeated communications from people living in the life after this life that they are not true. We will all go on to the realm called by some Summerland in which we will have wonderful reunions with our loved ones and will live rich, full lives. The death of the body isn’t something to be feared. It is the transition into a world full of wonderful experiences we will enjoy with the people we love.
