You Can Connect with Loved Ones in the Afterlife

We developed the Self-Guided Afterlife Connections procedure for the Afterlife Research and Education Institute. It uses relaxation activities with guided meditations. You can learn to allow the natural unfoldment from your subconscious through which you will receive messages from loved ones living on the next plane of life. You can then sit quietly anywhere, without guided meditation, and connect with loved ones now living in the afterlife.

After each training stage, participants fill out a journal describing what happened during their session.  They have given permission for excerpts from their journals to be made public. Here are some examples

Self-Guided Connection Session 1

Even as I started paying attention to my breathing, I felt that my son was reminding me about how he had done in a class that he had taken a few years ago.

Then as I pictured a place of beauty, I was with Ben at a park. He was dressed in warm weather clothing. He seemed amused that I would be concerned about temperature and he enjoyed the idea that he was teaching me. We then were up in the air looking down at the treetops briefly and then were back sitting together on the bench. We communicated for a while about our feelings for each other. My father came from our left and stood to the side. I could sense my mother and nephew there also, but their form was not as solid as Ben’s. My dad indicated that he just wanted me to know that he was proud of me, but wanted to allow me to spend this time with Ben. Ben let me know that he was glad that I was trying to stay connected with her and kissed me on the cheek to say good-bye for now.

Self-Guided Connection Session 2

Before there was any mention of going to a place where love is I saw a scene. It was a huge field of daffodils with the sun shining of them and butterflies all around. In the sky some clouds had come together to form the shape of an elderly man’s face and he was smiling down at the field, his face full of love. I walked through the field and the butterflies followed me. Then I had a feeling of my horse and my dog that had passed away many years ago. Satin was my very first horse and he had taught me how to ride. Teddy was a miniature collie and I was closer to him than any dog I had ever owned. The feeling was more like the feeling you have for a human friend than for a dog. I had not thought of either of them prior to the session, nor had I planned to connect with them.

I felt the presence of both of them. I remembered how I used to ride Satin in the woods with Teddy trotting behind us. I caught glimpses of both of them in the field of daffodils. I was enjoying it when I suddenly caught a glimpse of part of a cat’s face. I wasn’t sure if it was friendly and a tiny bit of alarm went through me. Then suddenly I felt it against my arm, not in the field of daffodils but against my arm in the chair in which I was reclining. I instantly relaxed again as I recognized it. It was my cat Saturn. He had died many years ago when he was 25 years old. His face had been a bit wild looking, not cute like the average domestic cat and when I first caught a glimpse of him, I had not recognized him. Now I knew exactly who it was. I could feel his fur against my arm which was resting on the chair. Then I heard his purring quite loudly. He sounded so extremely happy. He dominated everything. I was only aware of his fur and his purr, nothing else, not the horse, not the dog, not the daffodils, just him.

The session then ended.

The sensation of touch from the cat’s fur was so real and much more real than I had imagined a sense of touch to be as well as the loud sound of purring. It was like he was purring in the room. It was amazing.

Self-Guided Connection Session 3

Once again, my father appeared even before the instructions came to go through a Heavenly door. He greeted me and said that it’s good that I’m coming back here again. Then when the voice instruction broke through to go through the doorway, my Dad said to me “Well, listen to your teacher and do what he says”; so I walked up to this door and walked through it, and Dad stood there, smiling as if to say “That’s good.”

He said, “Look who’s here with me again,” and then he was holding my pet rabbit, Anubis, who was happy and peaceful. Dad said to me “Hold her,” and I did. I felt her in my hands. I started to cry again and Dad told me not to cry, that there’s no reason to cry, that I can see that they are there. I patted her and kissed her. Dad said that I was on the right track to be pursuing my spiritual journey. I told him that I found it hard at times, that I didn’t always know what to do or where to go for information or answers. He said to take things in steps, one step at a time—that it’s all about steps. I said that we used to take walks together while he was alive and he said this was like taking walks, one step at a time; that this is what we will always do, taking steps, moving forward.

I told him that others in the family don’t believe in this spirit stuff, that they often think it’s all nonsense or imagination or bogus and that it frustrates me. Dad said that it is because of fear, that people will often just go with what they know because it feels comfortable to them, like always choosing the same meal on a menu over and over again rather than picking a new dish for fear you may not like the new meal. So you choose what you know to be safe and familiar. He told me not to feel angry or frustrated with this, but to understand where they’re coming from. That they’re just wanting to see the world as the only place of being comes from a need to feel safe with what is familiar and known.

I saw other pets just lounging around on this oak island; the mosses were so thick and lush, everything green and warm. One of my cats from the past, Tiger, actually smiled at me.

I asked Dad if I could hug him. He said yes. I did hug him and felt the material of his shirt and his bones pressing against me and the scratch of the hair on his chin. He said that this was probably enough for now, to not try for too much all at once and that it was good to come back there. I also told him that I would like to connect with my mother who crossed over just a few months ago, and that I felt disappointed that she had not made much connection yet. He said that she had been busy meeting with many people and other beings since she crossed over, that she means to connect but that it’s like I can find days here on earth where there’s so much on the agenda that I don’t always get to everything I’d like to do in a day. He said it had been much like that for her, but that she wants to make the connection. That I’m to just give her time.

Then things faded out. I didn’t count to come out of anything; the image of them just faded out.

Self-Guided Connection Session 4

I went to a beautiful garden with a small quiet brook. It was so colorful with flowers and the green green grass and meadow and such lovely blue sky. The scrapbook of pictures was my pet Missie when she was young with her beautiful chocolate brown face and her wagging tail. When I entered the golden door she was waiting there for me and I couldn’t stop crying the moment I saw her. She was young again and very beautiful and lively. She wagged her tail when she saw me and I petted her. I was crying so she came over and licked my face. I told her how much I loved her and how much I missed her. She communicated to me that she was happy and missed me but was happy to be where she was. Her eyes conveyed her love for me and it felt very real and loving.

Self-Guided Connection Session 5

I met with my dog Jordan — she was waiting for me as I walked through the beautiful golden door. She was as I remember her as a puppy full of life and wonderment. She wagged her tail and told me how much she loved me and that she was with me every day. She (through telepathy) told me about coming at night to sleep on our bed and she asked if I remembered the other night when I woke up to feel her nudge me (I do remember but thought it was my husband). She wanted me to run to the brooks edge and throw a stick into the water like we used to when she was alive. Interesting enough when she came out of the water she was dry. We played and then I picked her up to feel her. I could feel her soft fur and I was crying as I cuddled her. She licked my face then I said I had to go back. She wanted me to see how she could jump and run and I watched her with great love

Self-Guided Connection Session 6

When I first went through the golden doorway there were many animals even an elephant. Missie wasn’t there waiting but then I saw her running towards me panting and all excited to see me. She jumped up at me like she used to do when she was a puppy. We kissed and I told her how much I loved her. She told me (through telepathy) that she was happy and she wanted to thank me for all the care I had given her over the years and especially when she was sick. I started crying and she licked my salty tears then told me not to cry because she was very happy and very well looked after.

I told her I will always miss her and she said she would always be with me. I truly felt her wonderful presence and could even smell her beautiful puppy smell.

Self-Guided Connection Session 7

When left on the beach, initially things started populating the empty beach such as beach umbrellas, then a dune buggy, then a horse (I used to ride my horse at the ocean when I was a kid) but it was interrupted before I could determine if it was a horse from my past. Then my dog Sasha came barreling toward me.  WHAT A DELIGHT!

Then, my horse, Golden, showed up and I just held her around her head and petted her – just as I would do when she was alive . .and Storm, another horse showed up to show me that he is OK now and his leg which had been broken, was whole . . .

Self-Guided Connection Session 8

Then we were in our yard and his dogs were there and he reiterated the peace and love and people that loved me were with him, taking care of him and watching over me always.

This came naturally because I love our yard and we have put so much of ourselves into it. My first dog came to me…her name is Duchess. She loved the yard and I buried her body there after she was put to sleep. I saw her wagging her tail as I stood by a rather misty doorway. Her communication to me was, “I am having so much fun.”

Then, I saw my husband walking one of his dogs. Peter engaged with the dog and I talked to Bert. That would have been 8 years before we met. I was doing the numbers in my mind and realized we easily could have been on the same beach he took his second Golden Retriever to. I talked with him. I felt shy, offering him a drink. The dog was gorgeous and I kept feeling sunshine warming me.

Self-Guided Connection Session 9

This was even more valuable than the first time I did this stage because I saw my Mom as well as Mark plus my dogs and cats on the other side.

This time when I went my son was a little boy and he was playing with his saint bernard rolling around and laughing, ( we didn’t have dogs in our house but he has dogs he cares for now).

Anyone can have uplifting talks with loved ones in the afterlife. It is as simple as relaxing into an open state of mind and allowing the communications to happen on their own. People who have learned to have their own connections are having them as often as they want, some every day. You can learn how to have talks with your loved one in the afterlife.
