People speak of Our Universal Intelligence as being outside of us. We are Our Universal Intelligence. We are just taking on roles within that source of all reality. It is not a “him,” as in a male entity outside of you. Referring to God or Our Universal Intelligence as separate from us gives us a mistaken perspective. Within Our Universal Intelligence, there are different personalities taking on different roles. There are guides, guardian angels, higher selves, people who have been on Earth and are now in the next realm, and there’s us. All are individuated manifestations of Our Universal Intelligence taking on different roles.
As an example from your own life, you may be a wife, a mother, an airplane pilot, and a member of an organization. In each, you are taking on a different role, but they are all you. Referring to yourself by saying “The mother picked up her son” instead of “I picked up my son” would just be odd. In the same way, referring to a god as some personality outside of us as in “God will give me strength” is equally as odd. We are personalities in Our Universal Intelligence. Instead of imploring “God give me strength” we should be saying “I give me strength.”
You are continually in touch with the persons of Our Universal Intelligence taking on different roles in your life. You may communicate with them by just speaking to them aloud or in thought. Each will respond to you. You may ask for anything, but you are asking yourself for it. Whether it manifests will depend on your path in Earth School. The other personalities you address will not generally override what will happen to you as part of your pre-birth planning, or that is happening to you as part of your life experiences. They will give you counsel about what you might do to achieve your goals. They will help and guide you if you ask for their help and are attentive to what they say. Expect that they will help you as you achieve your goals rather than making changes in your life. Don’t expect to ask for something and have it manifest without your effort.
So what does that mean for prayer? There are three problems with the usual conception of prayer: it is addressed to some entity outside of the person, it is one way, and it is generally a request for something the person praying is not getting using their own strength and resolve.
The first problem is that people pray to some god as described in their sacred texts that is a being far removed from us. Those gods don’t exist as beings outside of us. There is nothing but god, and we are instruments of God.
The second problem with this conception of prayer is that it is one way—from the prayer to a god. Instead of praying, we should have a conversation with our guides, angels, or loved ones now living in the life after this life. They will respond. Instead of a one-way prayer, have a conversation.
The third problem with this conception of a one-way prayer is that it assumes a god is going to do things for us we’re not doing ourselves. You will be given guidance on your life’s path. They won’t change your life to be everything you ask for. You may have to grow into accepting something you don’t like or not receiving something you want. You have free will and must make your own path. If any of the personalities in Our Universal Intelligence who love you were to interfere, it would no longer be your path, and you would not be able to learn from what you choose to do. Instead, they will help you as you make your decisions. They will give you insights and will give you suggestions. They are continually helping you. You just have to realize it and go forward in your life with confidence that you are on the right path if you listen to your inner voice telling you what to do and how to be. They will be part of your inner voice.
