Is it our minds, or is it some divine spark deep inside us that stays alive when the body dies? In this video, I explain what we have heard from people living in the life after this life about what the soul is and where the soul is.

This is what we understand about the soul from teachings we have received from people living in the afterlife. Our souls are the part of us that is in the Higher Self and is aware of our life plan. When I use the word “part of,” I’m referring to the fact that we are all one consciousness in Our Universal Intelligence. Instead of thinking of each of us as an individual apart from every other person, think of us as one consciousness taking on different roles. It’s the same as our lives in which we might be a father or mother to our children part of the day, a secretary or teacher another part of the day, and a member of a bowling league or card club on a third part of the day. We are still the same person, just taking on different roles.
In the same way you and I are one mind taking on different roles. The difference between the roles in our daily lives and our roles as part of our Higher Self is that to learn lessons in Earth School, we are acting out our roles in Earth School as individuals separate from one another. We each have our experiences, motives, interests, thoughts, and feelings that we experience separately from other people. The illusion is the belief that because I am thinking, feeling, and acting separately from others, then I must be a separate person, cut off from other people by my individuality. That is an illusion. We are one consciousness playing different roles.
The more we abandon the notion we are separate, the more the oneness and unity we have with all other people emerges. The illusion of separateness dissolves. Our state of being is oneness with all other people and with nature. As we remove the illusion of separateness, that natural state of being one emerges. It was always there, yearning to fill our lives with love, peace, and joy without measure. We just don’t realize it because of the ignorant notions and superstitions we’ve been taught about ourselves, others, and our existence during our childhoods in Earth School.
Our soul is part of our Higher Self playing the role of our soul. Our soul was part of the planning of our lives. Our soul knows all about what we were planning to do, the progress of our lives, and how others are engaged with us in Earth School. Our soul is different from our mind that is our personality, memories, emotional responses, and all the rest of what makes us who we are. Our minds developed during our stay in Earth School.
Some people use “soul” to mean a part of the mind that is eternal. Our soul is not part of our mind. We developed our minds during our time in Earth School. But that doesn’t mean we as our personalities didn’t exist before coming to Earth. The notions of past, present, future, and existence we accept as reality are part of the Earth School experience. In Earth School, we do experience a past, present, and future. But they are only relevant to our experiences in Earth School. Even words like “always,” “forever,” and “eternal” are time bound. The individual we are is not time-bound and is not limited to the periods of time we experience on Earth. We developed our personalities on Earth, but we have always existed.
David Bohm, the theoretical physicist, provided important contributions to quantum mechanics and cosmology. He also had insights into our existence and nature. He wrote that wholeness in humankind can only be achieved when we give our total attention to understanding the cause of the conflict and disorder humankind is experiencing. The cause is the illusion of separateness. The more a society understands and lives by the understanding of oneness and love for one another as ourselves, the more the society has peace and harmony. Yeshua, known today as Jesus, taught that truth over 2,000 years ago. Humankind still hasn’t learned this simple truth he taught.
So in answer to your first question, our soul is the role Our Universal Intelligence is playing that ties us to our Higher Selves. The soul knows all about our lives before our births. Our souls help us navigate through this life, in cooperation with other souls. Our minds that we develop in Earth School do not know this life plan and must struggle through life’s challenges with the limited knowledge we acquire during our tenure in Earth School. That’s how we grow in love and compassion. Only by going through the struggles can we and our Higher Selves develop understanding and a deeply felt love for others in the face of adversity.
As to your second question about where our soul is, there is no “where” outside of Earth School. Everything is a state of mind. There is only “here” and there is only “now.” Our souls, our Higher Selves, and Our Universal Intelligence we are part of are accessed as different focuses of our minds. Our souls and Higher Selves are accessible by shutting down the physical realm and allowing the communication from our souls and Higher Selves to come to us. We were brought up in Earth School to focus on our lives here, separated from the understanding of the greater reality we live in. We mature spiritually and fill our lives with love, peace, and joy when we shed the misconceptions we learned from childhood and emerge into the greater understanding that comes naturally because it is the truth underlying the matrix of the physical world.
The truth is that our souls and our minds are parts of our Higher Self playing different roles. Beneath that façade, we are one with each other, just playing different roles for a time. When we understand and live by that, we will live together in love, peace, and joy.
