Is Your World Just a Cosmic Simulation?

Materialists are struggling to explain explain what this reality is. One explanation is that this life is a simulation being created by beings outside of our reality, possibly in the future. They suggest we are living in something like a video game. In this video, I explain that the simulation hypothesis stumbles into a profound reality about life based on what we now know about this world and the next.

The simulation hypothesis suggests that we might be living in an incredibly advanced digital world, rather like a computer program, controlled by an entity beyond our understanding. In this scenario, humans may not be “real” in the traditional sense but rather programmed entities within a digital realm. Living in a simulation could be compared to being characters in a video game where we exist inside the simulation as the players. The programmer is described as being in the next universe up or even in the future. Philosopher of the mind David Chalmers quips that the video-game player and programmer may be just a teenager hacking on a computer running five universes in the background.

Other philosophers have suggested that future civilizations could possess super-powerful computers capable of running detailed simulations of their ancestors. They could see us as simulated beings with a form of artificial consciousness they create. And there might be many versions of humanity in the simulated universe.

These speculations are onto something we now realize is true. What they’re missing is an understanding of the origin of this reality and our roles in it. We have vast numbers of communications from people living in the life after this life. They tell us what their world is like, its relationship to our world, and the nature of our reality.

We are learning that we are in this life to grow in love and compassion, learn lessons, and enjoy the experiences. The basis of this realm is consciousness, Our Universal Intelligence.

We have experiences of sights, sounds, smells, textures, tastes, and body sensations. The experiences happen in our minds. They don’t require a physical world outside of us, just as in the materialist conception, having neurons fire in the brain doesn’t require a world outside of us. Dreaming, imagining, remembering, hallucinations, and hypnotic suggestion are examples of feeding stimuli to the brain that are not in a physical world. Experiences happen without using the senses to access a physical reality because experiences are only in the mind. They do not require a physical world.

So we have a common experience of reality because we are in the same dream together. The experiences are coming from Our Universal Intelligence, the Mind of God. We individually experience a bird singing happily in a large oak tree. There is no bird, no tree, and no singing outside of us. They are experiences we have commonly in Our Universal Intelligence, rather like experiences we might have in a dream together.

That brings us back to the simulation hypothesis. In the simulation hypothesis, we are living in a realm of experiences created for us by some unknown source. The world of the simulation does not exist outside of the simulation. There are only experiences within the simulation. In the same way, we are coming to realize we are facets of the greater consciousness we are calling Our Universal Intelligence. The source of experiences is our common participation in creating this reality and the creativity of Our Universal Intelligence giving us experiences, just as the source of experiences in the simulation hypothesis is outside of this reality, created for the players to have experiences. The profound differences are that we are the programmers, we make the life decisions using our free will, we are the experiencers, and when we are finished with this realm of experiences, we will continue to the next realm to have more experiences. Nothing is pre-programmed. We are making it up as we go along. And the individual we are continues to live throughout the rest of eternity. We will not go away when that teenager in another realm shuts down the simulation to go play ball with friends.

So the conclusion is that the hypothesis that suggests we are living in a simulation created by beings outside of this reality is analogous to our growing understanding that we are living in a world of common experiences we are having in Our Universal Intelligence together. We are one mind, dreaming the same dream together. The differences are that we are creating this reality together through our expectations and actions, and we will never be shut down.
